Practice Manager

Patti

Patti grew up in Mahtomedi MN (on the east side of White Bear Lake).  She attended Bethel College and University of MN, Twin Cities.  When Patti worked for UnitedHealthCare, she moved to Duluth as part of the start up operation in 1989.  Patti’s career at UHC spanned a number of positions, including Director of Training and Development and Project Management Director.

Once Patti bought a home in Duluth, she decided it was time to add a puppy.  Her friends highly recommended the veterinarians at North Shore Veterinary Hospital.  This was how Patti and her golden retriever Ned began her relationship with NSVH.

Patti fell in love with Duluth and then subsequently fell in love.  Patti and Jeff were married in the summer of 2000.   Jeff is a teacher for Duluth Public Schools.  Patti has an adult step-son, Brent, who is engaged to Amy.  Brent and Amy are the proud owners of Harley, a female springer spaniel.  Jeff and Patti currently have a six year old golden retriever named Jack who keeps them entertained and in good walking condition.

Patti joined NSVH in September 2006 as Practice Manager.  It is a joy for her to be involved with such a caring team here at North Shore Veterinary Hospital.

Receptionists

Our receptionists are primarily responsible for interacting with clients as well as maintaining our vast medical record system.  While many of our veterinary assistants provide support in these responsibilities, our receptionists are often the voice you will hear on the phone and the first face you will see when you enter our hospital.

Veterinary Assistants

Veterinary assistants at North Shore Veterinary Hospital have a wide variety of responsibilities.  They provide assistance to our doctors, technicians and receptionists.  At any given time, they may be answering the phone, taking a patient history, providing client education, or assisting with patient diagnostic procedures and medical care.  Our veterinary assistants are truly an invaluable part of our team!

Bonnie

Bonnie joined our staff as a veterinary assistant in January 1997.  In addition to her veterinary assistant duties, Bonnie has the daunting task of interacting with sales representatives and maintaining our inventory.  Bonnie has a B.S. in Personnel Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and has one dog (a Laborador/Husky mix) and one cat.

Laura

Laura joined us in October 1999.  Laura studied Art History at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and worked as a nursing assistant prior to coming to NSVH.  Laura has seven cats.

Veterinary Technicians

At North Shore Veterinary Hospital, we are very fortunate to have a number of excellent Certified Veterinary Technicians.  In addition to receiving their degrees in Veterinary Technology, they have taken and passed the certifying test which signifies a level of expertise in their field.  Our technicians provide primary patient care as well as medical, surgical, anesthetic and diagnostic assistance to our veterinarians.  Our technicians are very knowledgeable and are able to assist our doctors in providing a significant amount of education to our clients.  We should point out that it is not a requirement for technicians to become certified and we are very proud of our technicians who have "taken the extra step" to attain their certification!

Dawn

Dawn has been with us since June 1995.  Dawn is a Certified Veterinary Technician with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Willmar College (now Ridgewater College).  Dawn is a proud mother of Alicia, her 2 year old daughter, and she currently has one dog, three cats, one bird and one horse.  Dawn has a special interest in behavioral problems of animals and she coordinates our puppy socialization class.

Debby

Debby joined us in February 1996 and again in November 1999 after a "sabbatical" in Nevada/Montana.  Debby is a Certified Veterinary Technician who earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology from the Medical Institute of Minnesota in 1995.  Debby also has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Western Montana College and is a loyal Vikings fan!!

Amy

Amy is a 1992 graduate of the Medical Institute of Minnesota (Now Argosy University).  Amy worked for 10 years at an all cat hospital in the Twin Cities.  She moved back to Duluth in 2002 and she bought a house and now lives with 1 dog, 4 cats and a bird.  She is happy to be living back in Duluth and we are happy to have her here with us!

Kate

Katie graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver, CO in 2001.  She has worked at 4 different veterinary hospitals in Denver and Duluth.  She has a beautiful new golden retriever puppy named Dayla and she is happy to be back in Duluth.

Student Employees

At North Shore Veterinary Hospital, we believe it is our responsibility to contribute to the growth of individuals who wish to pursue veterinary medicine as a career.  We continuously employ students who are enrolled in pre-veterinary programs so that they may gain practical experience and insight into the profession.  Since 1999, four previous employees have graduated from veterinary school and are now employed as practicing veterinarians.  In addition, another three previous employees are currently enrolled in professional veterinary medicine programs.
