All of our doctors are active in local, state, and national professional organizations, including the Arrowhead Veterinary Medical Association, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and American Animal Hospital Association. Our doctors feel that participation in organized veterinary medicine is an important responsibility and have all strived to participate as committee members or officers when possible. We also believe strongly in community involvement and our doctors participate in educational programs at local schools and colleges.

At North Shore Veterinary Hospital, we remain committed to helping your pet live the most comfortable/pain-free life they can live.  To that end, all of our doctors are now members of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.  Through this organization, we will have access to information on some of the newest and best methods of pain management for your animal companions.

Dr. Hargrove

B.S. - Colorado State University 1988
D.V.M. - Colorado State University 1991
M.B.A. - Colorado State University 2001

Dr. Hargrove was raised in Colorado.  From around the 8th grade, he volunteered at a mixed animal veterinary practice where he gained valuable veterinary experience, but by the time he started vet school, he had decided that he would concentrate on companion animals.  While in vet school, he helped found a community group and a student group whose main purposes were to educate about and celebrate the bond between people and animals.

After graduation, he was employed as an associate veterinarian at Lakeland Veterinary Hospital in Brainerd, MN. In January of 1993, he moved to Duluth and joined the staff at North Shore Veterinary Hospital where he has been employed as a full time practitioner ever since.

Over the past 17 years Dr. Hargrove has nurtured his interest in computers and has published newsletters for the hospital as well as designing and maintaining this web site!  Dr. Hargrove also enjoys reading, cooking, photography and sports.

Dr. Hargrove completed his MBA in 2001 and is now working (on the side) with Lead Dog Consultants - a national veterinary management consulting company, specializing in practice valuations for veterinarians who are buying or selling veterinary practices.  He is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and is a member of the Veterinary Valuation Resource Council of Vet Partners, a professional organization of veterinary practice management consultants.  He was also elected to a 3 year term on the Board of Governors of the Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service in the fall of 2008 and is currently serving as the Vice President of that organization.

Dr. Hargrove has a son Ethan (6), two mixed-breed dogs and one cat.

Dr. Hargrove became a partner in 2004 and became sole owner of North Shore Veterinary Hospital on January 1, 2009.

Dr. Boucher

B.S. - North Dakota State University - 1985
D.V.M. - Iowa State University 1990

Dr. Boucher was raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  Her love of animals came from visits spent at her grandparent's and cousin's farms.  She didn't own a pet until she was in college and then she went big time with a Newfoundland cross.

Dr. Boucher met her husband, Norm, at the University of North Dakota and was married in 1981.  Their educations sent them from Fargo, North Dakota to Rochester, Minnesota and then to Iowa City and Ames, Iowa before they settled in Duluth in 1990.  Dr. Boucher started a family in 1988 while a sophomore in vet school.  Her son Benjamin was her studying companion in Ames while her husband finished his training in Iowa City.   The family was added to once they settled in Duluth with Lindsey in 1991 and Adam in 1993.

Dr. Boucher's hobbies include gardening (especially perennial flowers), felting, and photo and family history preservation.  She likes to bike, ski and spend time with her family on the beaches of Lake Superior looking for agates.

Dr. Boucher has a special interest in animal behavior and offers behavioral consults and puppy socialization class at the clinic.

Dr. Lind

B.S. - St. Olaf College 1998
D.V.M. - University of Minnesota 2002

Dr. Lind grew up in St. Paul, but spent every summer in Ely, Minnesota canoeing and hiking with her black labs, first Duke, then Dutchess. She is the youngest of 5 siblings, trailing the closest by 13 years. Her oldest brother also lives in Duluth.

Dr. Lind received her undergraduate education from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota graduating with degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies. She graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. After vet school, Dr. Lind completed a one year small animal medicine and surgery internship at a private practice in Oradell, New Jersey. For the next four years Dr. Lind worked at South Shore Veterinary Hospital in Forest Lake, Minnesota.

Dr. Lind met her husband, Matt playing Ultimate Frisbee. They married in Duluth in 2003. Since then their family has grown to include their son, Bjorn (June 2006) , a 3 year old golden/lab very friendly dog named Izzy and a little grey cat, Anna.

Dr. Hunt, his wife Michele, and their 5-year-old son Aiden enjoy hiking, biking, and spending time with their four dogs (Layla, Lola, Pooh, and Muffin), and four cats (Hannah, Salem, Cisco, and Abby).

Dr. Larry Anderson - Past Owner

Dr. Anderson was born and raised in Grand Rapids. After attending the University of Minnesota, he located in Duluth and purchased North Shore Veterinary Hospital in 1963. He has continuously strived to improve the hospital, both in it's physical structure and in it's philosophies and quality of medicine.  He belongs to the American Association of Laboratory Animal Scientists, The American Association of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners among others.  Dr. Anderson enjoys gardening and all outdoor activities. He is a fan of UMD Bulldog hockey, and is a proud husband, father, and grandfather of two.

Dr. Anderson is now in semi-retirement.  He is no longer seeing "routine" cases, but is coming in from time to time to see eye cases, feeding his long-time interest in ophthalmology!

North Shore Veterinary Hospital constantly strives to provide the highest level of veterinary care available.  At times, this means consulting with specialists in all areas of veterinary medicine.  On occasion, referral to the University of Minnesota or other specialty centers in the Twin Cities metro area may be required.  However, we are fortunate to have the following veterinarians available to us, so that our clients may see a specialist without being required to travel out of the area.
