Celebrating the everlasting bond with our animal companions
Anyone who has ever been blessed with the love of an
animal companion has also undoubtedly experienced the emptiness and grief
that results when those animals die. At North Shore Veterinary
Hospital, we recognize how precious the bond can be with our pets and we are
developing an animal memorial garden to pay tribute to the wonderful animals
who have filled our lives with love. When completed, the garden will
feature a wall with engraved memorial plaques. the space will also be
landscaped to provide a respectful, peaceful, private setting.
Phase I - Animal Memorial Wall
(Fall 2009)
The highlight of the garden is the memorial wall.
The 45' long wall has decorative stone pillars with stucco walls in between
that will serve as the surface on which memorial plaques will be permanently
attached. We are contracting with a local engraver to provide
black marble plaques for the wall. Using today's laser technology, these
plaques can be engraved to include customizable text or can even include
pictures of animals (see below).

Phase II - Landscaped Memorial Garden
(Spring/Summer 2010)
Two new pathways will wind up to the garden from the parking
lot area. There will be some taller vegetation directly in front of
the wall, providing
a natural visual barrier and helping to provide privacy for visitors. We
will also be adding a water feature that will provide the gentle sound of
trickling water that will contribute to the peacefulness of the area.
Park benches will provide a sitting area and the large grassy area can be
utilized for outdoor euthanasia for animals that would be more nervous
inside the hospital.

In Memory Of...
We are currently taking orders for memorial plaques.
The plaques are made of black marble and are 6" x 6" in size. All
plaques will sell for $125, which includes all engraving as well as the
mounting on the memorial wall. We are also able to permanently dedicate
certain portions of the garden in the memory of animals. The park
benches, the water feature and new trees are examples of items that can be
provided as a memorial to an animal. If you are interested in
remembering your pet this way, please contact us for further information.
