From all of us, a heartfelt welcome to North Shore
Veterinary Hospital. We have found that our clients generally regard their
pets as members of the family. That's great, because we feel the same way! We
understand that your trust in us for your pet's good health is a very special
responsibility.
Headed by Daphne Schmidt-Hall, D.V.M.
and Michael Hargrove, D.V.M, M.B.A., the staff of
North Shore Veterinary Hospital provides a wide variety of special services,
including:
Early detection of health problems is an
important benefit of regular exams. It's also a wonderful assurance to know
your pet is in good, sound physical condition. The care which starts with your
puppy or kitten can pay extra dividends when they reach their geriatric
"twilight" years.
Vaccinations
Immunization is one of the most
effective ways to protect your pet's overall good health. North Shore
Veterinary Hospital programs each pet's vaccination to their individual needs.
Dental Care
The proper care of your pet's teeth is
just as important as your own and our hospital strongly urges and teaches
proper dental and preventative care. Our specialized services include
cleaning, polishing, tooth extraction and oral surgery. Research shows that
80% of aging disease starts at the gum line.
Dietary Planning
A sound diet is vital to the health of
your pet at any age. We can counsel you on the dietary requirements for proper
weight maintenance, performance, growth and a prescribed diet can be important
in the aid of treatment for some diseases.
Convenience
We understand today's hectic pace and do
everything we can to make the care of your pet as easy as possible. For
example, you can admit your pet for inpatient exams by 8:00 a.m., or earlier
by special arrangement. For additional convenience, we have hours extending to
6:00pm Monday-Thursday and have Saturday hours until noon.
Emergency Services
Emergency needs are handled on a top
priority basis. After office hours, there is a full service veterinary
emergency clinic available in Duluth. Please visit our "Emergency
Services" page for more information.
We have voluntarily complied with the
high standard of the American Animal Hospital Association since 1969. Our
hospital has reached the highest level of accreditation as an AAHA Hospital.
This applies to all facilities, equipment, practice, management, ethics and
standards at the North Shore Veterinary Hospital.
In 1995, North Shore Veterinary Hospital
was highlighted in "Veterinary Forum," a national trade publication. In
addition, in 1996, North Shore Veterinary Hospital was named a
"Practice of Excellence"
and was featured in "Veterinary Economics," another trade publication. This
award was one of only 9 given out nationally in 1996. This places us among the
top small animal veterinary hospitals in the United States. We are very proud
of this recognition and we strive to continue to provide the high level
quality care which led to these accolades.
In December of 1998, our hospital website was recognized as a
runner-up in a national veterinary website-of-the-year contest held by DVM
Newsmagazine.
In 2000, the pet care portion of our website was selected as a
featured site in Lightspan's StudyWeb as one of the best educational resources
on the web. StudyWeb is one of the Internet's premier sites for
educational resources for students and teachers. Since 1996, their
expert reviewers have scoured the Internet to select only the finest sites to
be included in StudyWeb's listing of educational links. Each site in
StudyWeb includes a detailed review describing its editorial and visual
merits.
