AAHA Inspection Passed
We just had (and passed with flying colors) our American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) inspection. There are over 900 standards that are evaluated by AAHA and only 17% of the hospitals in the country are accredited by AAHA. We are proud of our team for all their hard work in making sure we meet (and exceed) these standards! We have been accredited by AAHA since 1979 and our newest accreditation is good through 2013.
Summer Traffic Changes
We are going to have some traffic changes from June 21-Aug 27th. I have been informed by MnDOT that the Lester River bridge on London Road is being repaired during this time, so all traffic will be diverted up 60th to Superior St. There will be a temporary stoplight put in at the intersection and parking will not be allowed on the street between our entrance and the corner. Thank you in advance for your patience with the increase in traffic during this time!

New Anesthetic Monitoring Equipment
We are proud to announce that we have added a new anesthesia monitor that allows us to observe additional health parameters in our anesthetized patients. Our new Surgivet monitor adds continuous temperature monitoring as well as end tidal CO2 and inspiratory CO2 to the other parameters that we were already monitoring; including heart rate, respiratory rate, ECG, SpO2 (pulse oximetry) and blood pressure. This additional level of monitoring will allow us to react more quickly in the unlikely event that there are ventilation problems that could endager your pet. We are very happy to provide the highest levels of anesthetic monitoring for your animal companions.

Improved Intra-operative Pain Management
All animals undergoing surgery will now be provided with intraoperative analgesia through the use of a CRI (constant rate infusion). The intraveneous fluids that we administer to your pet during surgery to support blood pressure now also contain pain medications. In this manner, we can better help prevent pain before it occurs, which allows us to use lower levels of anesthetic and also helps reduce pain post-operatively. We are proud to be on the cutting edge of pain management and patient care as we continuously strive to provide the safest and most comfortable anesthesia/surgery possible.
