Dr. Hargrove was raised in Colorado. From around the 8th grade, he volunteered at a mixed animal veterinary practice where he gained valuable veterinary experience, but by the time he started vet school, he had decided that he would concentrate on companion animals. While in vet school, he helped found a community group and a student group whose main purposes were to educate about and celebrate the bond between people and animals.
After graduation, he was employed as an associate veterinarian at Lakeland Veterinary Hospital in Brainerd, MN. In January of 1993, he moved to Duluth and joined the staff at North Shore Veterinary Hospital where he has been employed as a full time practitioner ever since.
Over the past 17 years Dr. Hargrove has nurtured his interest in computers and has published newsletters for the hospital as well as designing and maintaining this web site! Dr. Hargrove also enjoys reading, cooking, photography and sports.
Dr. Hargrove completed his MBA in 2001 and is now working part time with Summit Veterinary Advisors, specializing in practice valuations for veterinarians who are buying or selling veterinary practices. He is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and is a member of the Veterinary Valuation Resource Council of Vet Partners, a professional organization of veterinary practice management consultants. He was also elected to a 3 year term on the Board of Governors of the Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service in the fall of 2008 and is currently serving as the Vice President of that organization.
Dr. Hargrove has a son Ethan (7), one mixed-breed dog and one cat.
Dr. Hargrove became a partner in 2004 and became sole owner of North Shore Veterinary Hospital on January 1, 2009.
Dr. Kay Boucher

Dr. Boucher was raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Her love of animals came from visits spent at her grandparent's and cousin's farms. She didn't own a pet until she was in college and then she went big time with a Newfoundland cross.
Dr. Boucher met her husband, Norm, at the University of North Dakota and was married in 1981. Their educations sent them from Fargo, North Dakota to Rochester, Minnesota and then to Iowa City and Ames, Iowa before they settled in Duluth in 1990. Dr. Boucher started a family in 1988 while a sophomore in vet school. Her son Benjamin was her studying companion in Ames while her husband finished his training in Iowa City. The family was added to once they settled in Duluth with Lindsey in 1991 and Adam in 1993.
Dr. Boucher's hobbies include gardening (especially perennial flowers), felting, and photo and family history preservation. She likes to bike, ski and spend time with her family on the beaches of Lake Superior looking for agates.
Dr. Boucher has a special interest in animal behavior and offers behavioral consults and puppy socialization class at the clinic.
Dr. Ann Lind

Dr. Lind grew up in St. Paul, but spent every summer in Ely, Minnesota canoeing and hiking with her black labs, first Duke, then Dutchess. She is the youngest of 5 siblings, trailing the closest by 13 years. Her oldest brother also lives in Duluth.
Dr. Lind received her undergraduate education from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota graduating with degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies. She graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. After vet school, Dr. Lind completed a one year small animal medicine and surgery internship at a private practice in Oradell, New Jersey. For the next four years Dr. Lind worked at South Shore Veterinary Hospital in Forest Lake, Minnesota.
Dr. Lind met her husband, Matt playing Ultimate Frisbee. They married in Duluth in 2003. Since then their family has grown to include their son, Bjorn (June 2006), a very friendly retriever/lab mix named Izzy and a little grey cat, Anna.
Always a dream to live in Duluth, she and her family moved to the area in 2007. They love it! They spend their free time playing Ultimate Frisbee, Nordic and downhill skiing, canoeing, hiking and doing any other activities that get them outside.
Dr. Ellen Andersen

Dr. Andersen grew up in Bayport, MN east of the Twin Cities. Her love of animals started at a very young age - her preschool was called "Farm School" and introduced her to all sorts of animals. Also at home were black labs and 2 cats. She has one younger sister who lives in the Stillwater area.
After high school, Dr. Andersen majored in biology at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. There she met her fiance, Craig. He introduced her to the North Shore - his hometown is Tofte, MN - and she fell in love with the area. Veterinary school took here to Edinburgh, Scotland for 4 years, where she discovered her passion for companion animal medicine. Scotland was an amazing experience, however Minneota was calling her home.
Dr. Andersen's interests include: cooking, hiking, canoeing, camping, reading, cross country & downhill skiing, traveling and just about anything else that can take her outdoors. Two adorable young adults recently found Craig & Ellen and they are now very much a part of the family.
Dr. Emmily Bergstedt

Dr. Emmily Bergstedt grew up in Superior, Wisconsin. She was surrounded by a wide variety of animals throughout her childhood. She found a wonderful horse at the age of 13 and he is still with her today.
Dr. Bergstedt received her Bachelor's of Science, majoring in Animal Science, from the University of Minnesota in 2007. She graduated from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine, located on the island of St. Kitts, in 2011. St. Kitts was beautiful but it could never replace the seasons of Minnesota.
In her free time, Dr, Bergstedt loves spending time at the cabin with her three wonderful dogs and riding her horse. She also has three individually unique cats that fill the house with purring. She has a special interest in veterinary acupuncture and offers this traditional Chinese practice alongside conventional Western medical practices.
